This Chardham Yatra Package from Chennai covers Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath in 12 days. It runs from Delhi to Delhi. You reach Delhi on your own by flight or train, and the package costs ₹40,900 per person on twin sharing, plus 5% GST.
Yamunotri comes first. It is the temple of Goddess Yamuna, close to where the river begins. Gangotri is the temple of Goddess Ganga on the Bhagirathi River, though the glacier source itself, Gaumukh, lies about 18 km further up. Kedarnath Ji is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Badrinath is the temple of Lord Vishnu, and just below its painted front is the Tapt Kund hot spring, where many pilgrims bathe before Darshan because they believe the water heals.
We arrange your hotels, vegetarian meals and road transport inside Uttarakhand. A tour manager stays with the group throughout the tour.

Why Book Your Char Dham Tour from Chennai with Us
We are a registered tour operator, licence no. UTTR/DEHRADUN/08-2019/002797. Our representative meets you in Delhi and helps you board the overnight train, and a tour manager travels with the group throughout the tour.
Good to know before you book: our catering team cannot reach Kedarnath, so meals there are paid for on the spot. Better to plan for it in Chennai than to find out at 3,583 m.
How to Reach Char Dham from Chennai
None of the four dhams has an airport or a railway station. Pilgrims from Chennai usually get to Delhi first and then continue into Uttarakhand by train or road, which is why this package starts in Delhi.
| Option | What to know | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Chardham Yatra from Chennai by flight | Nonstop Chennai-Delhi flights run daily (IndiGo, Air India and others) | About 3 hours |
| Flight to Dehradun | No nonstop flight from Chennai; one stop, usually via Delhi | Depends on the connection |
| Chardham Yatra from Chennai by train | Tamil Nadu Express (12621) to New Delhi, runs daily | About 32-33 hours |
Day 1 ends with an overnight train out of Delhi. A flight that lands by the afternoon leaves enough time. If you take the train, leave Chennai two days before the tour starts.
Char Dham Yatra by Helicopter from Chennai
No helicopter flies from Chennai. Both helicopter options start inside Uttarakhand, and they work differently.
- Kedarnath shuttle: flights from the Guptkashi, Phata and Sirsi helipads to Kedarnath. Book only on the official IRCTC HeliYatra website (heliyatra.irctc.co.in) and check any other offer carefully before you pay.
- Charter from Dehradun: private operators fly to one dham or several. This is a separate package.
Weather decides whether flights run on a given day. Helicopter charges are not part of this road package.
Char Dham Altitude and Trek Distance
| Dham | Altitude | How you reach the temple |
|---|---|---|
| Yamunotri | 3,235-3,293 m (sources differ) | About 6 km trek one way from Janki Chatti; pony and doli available |
| Gangotri | 3,100 m | The road goes to Gangotri; short walk to the |
| Kedarnath | 3,583 m | About 16 km trek one way from Gaurikund, usually 6-8 hours uphill; pony, doli, palki or helicopter |
| Badrinath | 3,133 m | The road goes to Badrinath; short walk to the temple |
The Kedarnath trek has cut-off times. As of July 2026, the Rudraprayag district administration does not let pilgrims start after 1:00 PM at Sonprayag or 1:30 PM at Gaurikund. Leave Sitapur early.
Best Time for Char Dham Yatra
Go in May or June, or between mid-September and October. Avoid July and August. That is when rain is heaviest and landslides can shut the hill roads for hours, sometimes for days.
Char Dham Opening and Closing Dates 2026
| Dham | Opened in 2026 | How the closing date is fixed |
|---|---|---|

| Gangotri | 19 April (Akshaya Tritiya) | Closes on the day after Diwali |

Char Dham Registration 2026
Registration is mandatory and free. Register online at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or at the registration counters in Haridwar and Rishikesh, using an Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving licence or passport, plus your mobile number. There are verification counters at the entry gate of every dham, so keep your registration letter or QR code on your phone and on paper. For help, the official toll-free number is 1364 and the helpline is 0135-3520100. Nobody needs to be paid to register you.
Chardham Yatra Travel Tips for Pilgrims from Chennai
- Warm clothes: Nights at Kedarnath and Badrinath are cold even in May and October, far colder than a Chennai winter. Pack thermals, a heavy jacket, a woollen cap and gloves.
- Food: Hotels in the hills serve North Indian vegetarian meals such as roti, rice, dal and sabzi. Idli and dosa are easier to find in Haridwar and Rishikesh, so many pilgrims from Tamil Nadu carry podi, pickle and a few ready-to-eat packets.
- Health: If you have a heart, blood pressure, diabetes or breathing condition, talk to your doctor about high-altitude travel before you book. Walk slowly on trek days.
- Water: Drink water through the day. Keep ORS sachets for heavy sweating or an upset stomach.
- Book early: Book and register well before your dates, especially for May and June.
- Offline maps: Mobile signal is weak in the mountains. Download maps before you leave.
- Keep the area clean: Carry a small bag for your waste and use dustbins. Nothing should go into the rivers or near the temples.
