How to Reach Chardham from Nagpur

Most pilgrims from Nagpur go to Delhi first, because that is where our team picks up the group.

By Air

Fly from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, the main airport for the Char Dham route. There is no non-stop flight; most connect via Delhi. Nagpur to Delhi takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, and Delhi to Dehradun about 1 hour. From Dehradun airport, Rishikesh is about 20 km and Haridwar about 35 km by taxi. IndiGo and Air India fly these sectors. Since this tour starts in Delhi, a Nagpur to Delhi flight is enough; fly on to Dehradun only if you have agreed to join the group in Uttarakhand.

By Train

Nagpur to New Delhi is about 1,090 km by rail. There is no regular direct train to Haridwar or Dehradun, so pilgrims take a train to Delhi. Useful options:

• Andhra Pradesh Express (20805), daily, about 15.5 hours
• Tamil Nadu Express (12621), daily, about 16.5 hours
• Rajdhani and Duronto trains (such as 12433, 12437 and 12269) on set days of the week, about 14 hours

Book 60 days in advance on IRCTC for May-June departures, and pick a train that reaches Delhi before the evening pickup on Day 1. Our team coordinates Delhi pickup regardless of which train you take.

By Road

Nagpur is about 1,250-1,300 km from Haridwar by road, via NH 44 through Sagar, Jhansi, Gwalior and Agra to Delhi. That is two long days of driving each way. Most pilgrims prefer train or flight to cover the Nagpur-Delhi leg, and our vehicle handles everything from Delhi onwards.

Types of Chardham Packages from Nagpur

Standard Package

Covers basic hotels, daily vegetarian meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), vehicle and driver charges. ₹40,900 per person on twin sharing, plus 5% GST. Good for pilgrims who want a complete, no-frills Char Dham Yatra from Nagpur at a reasonable price.

Premium Package

Upgraded hotels, all meals, private vehicle and a dedicated tour manager throughout. ₹50,000-₹65,000 per person. Suitable for families who don't want to manage any logistics on the trip.

Luxury Package

4-star and above hotels where available, all meals, luxury vehicle (Innova Crysta or Traveller) and personalised support. From ₹80,000 per person. This is the option for groups who want the best available hotels at each stop.

Helicopter Package

You can add a Kedarnath helicopter ticket to the road package, with shuttles from Sersi, Phata or Guptkashi. These tickets are sold only on IRCTC's portal, heliYatra.irctc.co.in, need your Yatra registration number, and fill up months ahead in peak season. Both cut down the walking at Kedarnath, which is why senior citizens and pilgrims with mobility issues often choose them.

Significance of the Four Dhams

Kedarnath	Lord Shiva	About 3,580 m	One of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Believed to have been built by the Pandavas and restored by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The conical rock inside the temple is worshipped as the hump of Lord Shiva in his bull form.
Badrinath	Lord Vishnu	3,133 m	Where Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Badrinarayan. Also one of the four dhams of the all-India Char Dham (with Dwarka, Puri and Rameswaram) linked to Adi Shankaracharya. The Tapt Kund hot spring dip before Darshan is a centuries-old ritual.

Chardham Yatra Registration 2026

Registration with the Uttarakhand government is mandatory for every pilgrim. Without a Yatra Pass, pilgrims can be stopped at checkpoints such as Dobata (Yamunotri route), Heena (Gangotri route), Sonprayag (Kedarnath route) and Pandukeshwar (Badrinath route).

• Select Yatra dates and dham sequence, then download the QR-coded registration letter (your Yatra Pass) and print it
• Kedarnath helicopter booking: heliYatra.irctc.co.in (IRCTC official portal; needs your registration number)
• Advance puja booking at Kedarnath/Badrinath: badrinath-kedarnath.gov.in

Note: Registration is free. Carry both a printed copy and a screenshot on your phone. The Yatra Pass must match the ID you carry.

Health screening points run along the route, and a fitness certificate may be asked for on high-altitude routes such as Kedarnath. Older pilgrims and anyone with heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma or diabetes should get a check-up and carry a certificate from their doctor.

Chardham Opening and Closing Dates 2026

Yatra season usually runs from late April to mid-November. In 2026, Yamunotri and Gangotri opened on 19 April (Akshaya Tritiya), Kedarnath on 22 April and Badrinath on 23 April. Temples close in mid-November, around Diwali and Bhai Dooj; the temple committees announce exact closing dates in October.

Travel Tips for Pilgrims from Nagpur

• Pack warm clothes even for May-June travel; temperatures at Kedarnath and Badrinath drop to 3-10°C at night
• Carry original ID proof (Aadhaar/Passport), printed Yatra Pass, and a medical certificate from your doctor if you are an older pilgrim or have a health condition
• ATMs are available in bigger towns like Uttarkashi, Srinagar and Jyotirmath but can run out of cash in peak season, so carry ₹5,000-₹8,000 in small notes
• Alcohol is banned at the four dhams and in the Haridwar and Rishikesh municipal areas
• Wear shoes that are already broken in; new footwear on a mountain trek of about 16 km leads to blisters
• Keep a basic medicine kit: paracetamol, ORS, antacid, antiseptic cream and bandage. Do not start altitude medicine such as Diamox without your doctor's advice
• Do not rush at altitude. Walk slowly on the Kedarnath trek and take short breaks
• Follow the photography rules posted at each temple. At Kedarnath, phones are not allowed inside the temple premises and lockers are provided nearby
• For senior citizens: pony/doli at Yamunotri and Kedarnath; helicopter from Sersi, Phata or Guptkashi is the most practical option for Kedarnath
