Hotels on the Char Dham Route

In this package you stay in Haridwar, Barkot, Uttarkashi, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Badrinath and Srinagar. Rooms get simpler as you go higher. Here is what to expect around each Dham:

• Haridwar and Rishikesh: Everything from ashrams and Dharamshalas to resorts.
• Yamunotri: Janki Chatti, where the trek starts, has lodges, guesthouses and a GMVN Tourist Rest House. This package stays in Barkot, which has more hotels.
• Gangotri: Budget stays and GMVN guesthouses near the temple. This package stays in Uttarkashi and visits Gangotri as a day trip.
• Kedarnath: Basic GMVN huts, tents and camps near the temple. For better rooms, people stay in Guptkashi, Sonprayag or Gaurikund.
• Badrinath: Budget lodges, GMVN rest houses and 3-star hotels near the temple.

How to Reach Delhi or Dehradun from Pune

The road package starts in Delhi, so book your journey to reach Delhi by the morning of Day 1. The drive to Haridwar takes most of that day.

• Flight to Delhi: Non-stop flights from Pune take about 2 hours and run several times a day.
• Train to Delhi: The Pune to Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto (12263) takes about 20 hours and currently runs on Tuesdays and Fridays. Other trains, such as the Jhelum Express, take 26 to 27 hours.
• Flight to Dehradun: IndiGo lists a non-stop Pune to Dehradun flight on some days of the week, taking about 2 hours 20 minutes. On other days you connect through Delhi. Check the airline's current schedule before booking. Dehradun is where the helicopter Yatra starts.
• Train to Haridwar: Train 17363 runs direct from Pune to Haridwar in about 37 hours. Check its running days on Indian Railways before planning around it.

Chardham Yatra by Helicopter

If you have less time, our Chardham Yatra by helicopter starts from Dehradun and covers all four Dhams in about 6 days.

It costs much more than the road trip. Flights depend on the weather and can be delayed on cloudy days, so keep a spare day in your plan.

These are normal-condition figures. A landslide or roadwork on a narrow mountain road can hold traffic for hours, especially in July and August.

Opening dates are from the Uttarakhand Char Dham registration portal. Closing dates are announced by the temple committees later in the season and are not yet officially confirmed. Our Chardham Yatra opening and closing dates page is updated when they are.

Altitudes are from the Uttarakhand Char Dham registration portal. Different official pages round Kedarnath slightly differently.

Before You Travel

• Registration is mandatory for every pilgrim. Register on the Uttarakhand Government portal and carry the Yatra Registration Letter with its QR code.
• The Char Dham health advisory for 2026 recommends a screening check-up for men over 35 and women over 45, and asks anyone with diabetes, epilepsy, or heart or lung conditions to see a doctor before the journey.
• All four temples are above 3,000 m. Walk slowly on the treks and rest when you need to.
• Night driving on the Yatra roads is restricted, so most days start early.
• July and August bring heavy rain and landslides. If you travel then, add one or two buffer days.
• Book Kedarnath helicopter shuttle tickets only on the official IRCTC HeliYatra website.
