Planning the Chardham Yatra package from Nagpur? This journey takes you to four sacred temples in Uttarakhand — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. This pilgrimage holds deep significance in Hindu faith, and pilgrims travel here from all over India, including from Nagpur — from the geographical centre of the country. Each temple has its own story and meaning, set among the Himalayas. Visiting the Char Dham is believed to cleanse accumulated sins and bring the devotee closer to moksha.

Reaching these places needs careful planning. Our Nagpur to Char Dham Yatra package takes care of transport, meals, and stays at every destination, so you don't have to arrange anything separately. During the trip, you'll pass through mountain valleys, riverside towns, and Himalayan roads — the journey itself is as much a part of the experience as the Darshan.

You decide how to travel, where you want to stay, and how long the trip should be — because our Chardham tour from Nagpur is fully customisable. We plan everything around your group to keep the journey smooth from start to finish.

Best Time for Chardham Yatra from Nagpur

Season Months Conditions Verdict
Summer (Peak) May – June 10–25°C, all temples open, roads clear. Highest crowd and prices. Book 3–4 months ahead. ✅ Best for first-timers
Monsoon July – August Heavy rain, frequent landslides on mountain roads, road blocks possible. ⚠️ Avoid — risk of disruption
Post-Monsoon September – October Clear weather, fewer pilgrims, greener roads, temples still open till November. ✅ Best — peaceful travel
Winter November onwards All four temples close. High-altitude routes snowbound. ❌ Not recommended

Yatra season runs early May to mid-November each year. In 2026, Yamunotri and Gangotri open on Akshaya Tritiya (early May), Kedarnath and Badrinath open a few days later. Temples close around Diwali/Kartik Purnima (October–November). Verify exact 2026 opening dates at chardhamtour.in/tourism/chardham-yatra-opening-closing-dates/ before booking.

Travel Tips for Pilgrims from Nagpur

  • Pack warm clothes even for May–June travel — temperatures at Kedarnath and Badrinath drop to 3–10°C at night
  • Carry original ID proof (Aadhaar/Passport), printed Yatra Pass, and medical certificate if above 50 years
  • ATMs are unreliable beyond Rishikesh — carry at least ₹5,000–₹8,000 in small notes
  • Alcohol is strictly prohibited across the entire Chardham route — Uttarakhand Police imposes heavy fines
  • Wear shoes that are already broken in — new footwear on a 16 km mountain trek leads to blisters
  • Keep a basic medicine kit: paracetamol, ORS, antacid, antiseptic cream and bandage. Diamox only if your doctor advises it
  • Do not rush at altitude — rest for at least half a day on arrival at Kedarnath before attempting the full darshan circuit
  • Photography is restricted inside most temple sanctuaries — leave cameras and phones at the entrance
  • For senior citizens: pony/doli at Yamunotri and Kedarnath; helicopter from Phata is the most practical option for Kedarnath

Tour Itinerary

Your Chardham Yatra from Nagpur starts today. Travel to Delhi — our team will receive you at a fixed spot. Once everyone is ready, we continue to Rishikesh, leaving at around 9:30 PM. It is an overnight drive and we arrive after midnight. On reaching, check in to the hotel and rest for the night.

After breakfast, visit Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Swarg Ashram, and Geeta Ashram in Rishikesh. Then begin the drive to Barkot (~166 km, about 7 hours on mountain roads). En route, stop at Kempty Falls near Mussoorie for a short break and to see the waterfall. Arrive at Barkot, a quiet hill town, and check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

Leave early in the morning and drive directly to Yamunotri — the first Char Dham. Reach Janki Chatti (~42 km) — the base for the trek. The trek to Yamunotri temple is 6 km each way. Pony and palki rides are available at your own cost. On reaching the temple, pay respects to the Divya Shila and take a bath in Jamnabai Kund hot spring (natural hot water spring at the temple premises). You can also prepare rice and potato prasad by cooking it in the hot spring water — a tradition unique to Yamunotri. After Darshan, return to Janki Chatti and drive back to Barkot for overnight stay.

Leave Barkot and drive to Uttarkashi — a scenic town surrounded by the mountains on the Bhagirathi River. En route, stop at Prakateshwar Mahadev Temple. On reaching Uttarkashi, check in to the hotel, freshen up, and visit the Vishwanath Temple. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up early and start for Gangotri — where the River Ganga originates (~100 km each way). On the way, take a short break at Harsil — a valley town known for its apple orchards and the clear blue Bhagirathi River. At Gangotri, visit the temple and attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony. The spiritual atmosphere here is different from any other dham. Then drive back to Uttarkashi for overnight stay.

We are at the halfway mark of the trip. Drive from Uttarkashi to Srinagar in Uttarakhand — the Garhwal division's main town, not to be confused with the one in Jammu & Kashmir. The mountain drive passes through some good stretches of scenery. If time permits, stop at Tehri Dam — India's tallest dam at 260.5 metres. Arrive in Srinagar by evening and check in to the hotel.

Leave early from Srinagar and drive to Sitapur — the town close to the Kedarnath base. En route, stop at Dhari Devi Temple (a Shakti Peetha set on a rock in the Alaknanda River) and at Rudraprayag — the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Reach Sitapur by evening and rest for the night. The Kedarnath trek begins the following morning from Gaurikund — about 16 km. If you prefer, helicopter service from Phata is also available.

Very early start (1–3 AM) to drive from Sitapur to Gaurikund — the base camp for the Kedarnath trek. The trek is 16–17 km one way and requires reasonable fitness. The path climbs through the Mandakini valley with mountain views on either side. For those who cannot trek, helicopter service is available from Phata helipad (pre-book via heliyatra.irctc.co.in). After darshan, visit Shankaracharya Samadhi behind the temple and attend the evening aarti if possible. Return trek to Gaurikund, then drive back to Sitapur for overnight stay.

Drive towards Badrinath — the last of the four dhams. En route, stop at Karnaprayag (Alaknanda and Pindar rivers), Nandprayag (Alaknanda and Nandakini), and Vishnuprayag (Alaknanda and Dhauliganga) — three of the five Panch Prayag sacred confluences. Also stop at Joshimath to visit the Narasimha Temple. Arrive at Badrinath by evening and check in to the hotel. Temple darshan is planned for the next morning.

Begin the day with a holy dip in Tapt Kund (also called Suryakund — a natural hot spring beside the temple at around 45°C) and then attend darshan at the Badrinath Temple. After exploring the temple complex, drive to Mana Village (~3 km) — India's last village before the Tibetan border. Visit Bhim Pul and Vyasa Gufa here. Then drive to Pipalkoti, where the hotel stay is pre-booked. Overnight stay at Pipalkoti.

Start heading back towards the plains. Stop at Devprayag — where the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers meet to form the Ganga, one of the most sacred confluences in India. Continue to Haridwar. Take a dip at Har Ki Pauri and attend the Ganga Aarti at this ghat in the evening. After the aarti, drive onwards to Delhi.

Arrive in Delhi early morning. The Chardham Yatra from Nagpur ends here. Our team will assist with drop-off at the railway station or airport for your return journey to Nagpur.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ans: No. There are no direct flights from Nagpur to any of the four Char Dham sites. The nearest airport to the Chardham circuit is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Pilgrims typically fly Nagpur → Delhi → Dehradun. From Dehradun airport, Rishikesh is 20 km and Haridwar is 35 km by cab. Alternatively, take a direct train from Nagpur to Haridwar or Dehradun and join the tour from there.

Ans: Yes, children can join the Chardham Yatra when travelling with family. Since the pilgrimage involves some trekking and mountain terrain, pony and palki services are available at Yamunotri (6 km trek) and Kedarnath (16–17 km trek) to make the journey easier. Very young children should be checked for altitude fitness before booking.

Ans: The package includes all vegetarian meals — breakfast, lunch, dinner, and morning/evening tea. Non-veg food is not available anywhere along the Chardham route. If you have specific dietary requirements, inform the tour coordinator before departure.

Ans: The standard Chardham Yatra package from Nagpur is 12 Days / 11 Nights. If time is limited, a helicopter package can complete the four dhams in 6–7 days. Duration is customisable — contact us to plan around your schedule.

Ans: Beyond the four temples, the route offers: Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri (Haridwar) and Triveni Ghat (Rishikesh), darshan at Dhari Devi Shakti Peetha, Kempty Falls near Mussoorie, Tehri Dam, Harsil valley, Mana Village (India's last village before Tibet), Bhim Pul and Vyasa Gufa near Badrinath, and the three Panch Prayag confluences on the Badrinath return route.

Ans: Consult your doctor before travel — especially if you have heart conditions, high blood pressure, or breathing issues. Pilgrims above 50 years must upload a medical fitness certificate during online Yatra registration. At high altitudes like Kedarnath (3,583 m) and Badrinath (3,133 m), headache, nausea, and breathlessness are common. Stay hydrated, eat light, rest well, and descend immediately if symptoms worsen. Do not push through altitude sickness.

Ans: The Chardham Yatra is a pilgrimage trip, but the route offers nature walks, river views, and occasional camping. Rishikesh — the starting point — is also India's adventure capital. White-water rafting, bungee jumping, and zip-lining are available here if you have an extra day before or after the yatra.

Ans: Our 12-day standard Chardham Yatra package from Nagpur starts at ₹40,900 per person (double sharing, all meals, AC vehicle). Budget group packages start from ₹35,000. Premium packages with upgraded hotels start from ₹50,000. Helicopter packages typically range from ₹1,20,000–₹1,80,000 per person. All prices are exclusive of 5% GST and Nagpur–Delhi transport.

Ans: The best time for Nagpur to Chardham Yatra is May–June and September–October. May–June has stable weather, open roads, and the highest footfall of the season. September–October is less crowded with excellent visibility and stable roads. Avoid July–August (heavy rain, landslides, road blockages). Temples close in November.

Ans: Those who are not physically fit or have serious health conditions — heart disease, uncontrolled hypertension, severe asthma, or recent surgery — should consult their doctor and reconsider the high-altitude treks. Pregnant women are generally advised against the yatra due to high altitude and long mountain drives. For pilgrims with limited mobility, Gangotri and Badrinath are accessible without trekking; Kedarnath helicopter and Yamunotri palki make the other two manageable.

Ans: Take a train or flight from Nagpur to Delhi or Dehradun. Then travel by road to Gaurikund — the base for the Kedarnath trek. From Gaurikund, trek 16–17 km to Kedarnath or take a helicopter from Phata helipad. Helicopter tickets must be pre-booked at heliyatra.irctc.co.in. Our package vehicle handles all road transfers from Delhi onwards.

Ans: The traditional sequence followed for the Chardham Yatra is: Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath — west to east across the Garhwal Himalayas. This is the order in our itinerary and the widely accepted sequence for completing the pilgrimage.
