How to Reach Parmarth Niketan and Triveni Ghat
Parmarth Niketan Ghat gets flocked with tourists and devotees for an hour from 6 pm to 7 pm and one can also observe thousands of floating lit up Diyas. Vedic priests are responsible for performing this holy ritual which is accompanied with rhythmic chanting, devotional music, Bhajans and prayers. This Ghat can easily be reached since it is located at just 500 metres from Laxman Jhula and 15 kms from Haridwar.
Triveni Ghat is especially popular for its Maha Aarti procession where the Ganga Aarti takes place amidst not just music and devotional songs but all of this is accompanied with rhythmic drumming and continuous ringing of the temple bells. This Ghat can be easily accessed from Haridwar from where one can hire a taxi or an auto to cover a distance of just 10 kms.
Tips for Ganga Aarti in Rishikesh
- Make sure to reserve a seat with a good view of the procession for your family and yourself by arriving way before the said time of Aarti commencement.
- Keep your valuables and belongings close to you or in a pouch to keep it safe from pickpocketers who take advantage of the crowded situations.
- You can get your private vehicle and park it near the Ghat in the allotted parking space there.
- Remember not to give money to the fraudsters here who may take advantage of your situation and try to con some money from you.
- For a closer and a more blissful experience try to avoid going there during the peak travel season. You can do this by doing some important research beforehand and knowing when it is the low tourist season.
Other Things to Do in Rishikesh
Visit Junkyard Camp – Located at a mere distance of around 15 kms from Lakshman Jhula this camp is located in the scenic banks of Ganga River. You can stay here in camps under the starry sky and even indulge in various water based activities which will be a thrilling experience in itself.
Lakshman Jhula – This place is one of the most iconic heritage landmark of Rishikesh and is frequented by not only tourists and visitors but is also utilized by the locals for their daily activities. This iron bridge is the closest to Parmarth Niketan Ghat from where one can easily watch the Ganga Aarti procession.
Trimbakeshwar Temple – Also commonly referred to as the 13 Manjila Mandir this is another ancient heritage of Rishikesh. Home to various gods and goddesses on every floor this landmark place of worship can be seen just on arrival to Ram Jhula. Originally constructed as the abode of lord Shiva this 400 year old temple is famous for its architectural brilliance and also one of the most visited temples of Rishikesh.
