Why Choose Helicopter Yatra for Badrinath and Kedarnath?
Wondering why pick the aerial journey for the Badrinath and Kedarnath? Well, there are several advantages of choosing the helicopter Yatra over the road journey, such as:
Time-Saving
The helicopter Yatra can be completed quickly -- in a day or two. On the other hand, the traditional road travel takes 5 to 6 days and is very tiring.
Comfortable Journey
The helicopter Yatra is very smooth and convenient. You get to skip the trekking and long travel hours by road. Plus, it has a luxurious touch to it, as opposed to the bumpy road travel in the Himalayas.
Senior Citizen-Friendly
If you're over 60 or a differently-abled pilgrim, then the helicopter Yatra is no less than a blessing. You get to fly in utter comfort and luxury, and don't have to go through the stressful journey of road travel.
Beautiful Aerial Views
You get to have a bird's eye view of the stunning Himalayan landscapes. This is an inherent advantage of helicopter travel! Take in the raw beauty of the snow-capped hills and lush valleys.
VIP Darshan
Most helicopter packages include priority Darshan. The weather in the Himalayas is unpredictable. Therefore, most choppers services, in order to try to minimise the delay, provide the guests with a VIP Darshan pass.

Important Information for Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter
- Both the State government and temple authorities reserve the right to make changes to the VIP Darshan facility.
- The helicopters have stringent rules on passenger weight. To satisfy the weight limits, we can shuffle the passengers in and out of the helicopter. This means that people who are travelling together might not be able to sit together and may have to travel in different helicopter shifts. Please be aware of this beforehand.
- We'll inform you of the precise flight schedule and reporting time at the helipad one day before the Helicopter Yatra.
- It's recommended to wear comfortable clothes for your journey. Tracksuits and comfortable sports shoes are recommended.
- Our crew will be present at both the Dhams of Badrinath and Kedarnath. They are always there for your assistance.
- If an infant is travelling with you on Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter, it will reduce the total permissible weight of the entire group that is to be boarded.
- Any charges like donations, Pitthu charges, tips, extra porter, etc., will be the sole responsibility of the passengers.
- Network connectivity is quite poor in mountainous areas. Service providers like Jio and BSNL, however, provide a good network in many areas up there.
- Both Badrinath and Kedarnath experience cold temperatures, and therefore, you are required to bring warm attire like woollen sweaters and jackets. Also, they are both located thousands of metres above sea level, and altitude sickness is common. So, it's advised to bring all your important medications.
- Before embarking on the Yatra, it's always recommended to undergo a medical check-up, especially for those with a medical ailment. Moreover, senior citizens and individuals with mobility issues are strongly advised to consult their physician before embarking on the sacred Do Dham Yatra.

Health Advisory for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra by Helicopter
- It's highly recommended to acclimatize yourself in the hilly areas. Both Kedarnath and Badrinath being at high altitudes, require you to get used to the mountains. However, your Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter will be concluded in a single day -- which essentially means you wouldn't have time to acclimatize. The best advice, therefore, is to go slow and catch your breath as much as you can. It's also strongly recommended not to exert yourself in hilly areas, as this can lead to Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) which affects the lungs and brain.
- Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) usually occurs after climbing above 2500 m. Some common symptoms of this ailment are:• Breathing problems • Dizziness • Loss of appetite • Fatigue • Nausea • Vomiting • Weakness • Difficulty in sleeping • Headache
- There's another high-altitude-related ailment called High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). This is a more severe form of AMS and has far worse symptoms. It occurs as a result of swelling of brain tissue which can impede brain activity eventually. It can even lead to coma or even death in some cases. A few symptoms are:• Disorientation • Fatigue • Partial paralysis • Bowel dysfunction • Headache • Bladder dysfunction • Visual impairment
- You might also experience High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) which is caused due to fluid accumulation in the lungs and may lead to respiratory failure. HAPE usually begins at night and can progress quite quickly. In worst-case scenarios, it can cause fatality within a few hours. Moreover, young people are more prone to it. Common symptoms include:• Shortness of breath • Bright red stained sputum • Weakness • Persistent dry cough • Drowsiness • Increased heart rate • Fatigue • Chest tightness • Congestion

Travel Tips for Pilgrims
Here is some travel advice for your trip:
- Consult a doctor before embarking on the Yatra, especially if you have a health condition, such as heart or respiratory issues.
- As the space in the chopper is less, bring only essentials. The maximum baggage a passenger can carry on the helicopter is 5 kg.
- Bring your government-approved ID (Aadhaar Card, Voter Card, and PAN Card) to the helipad, as it's checked before boarding.
- Flights might get delayed due to fog, rain, or wind. Be mentally prepared for that and keep buffer days in your itinerary.
