It is an auspicious festival that is celebrated for 12 days, when the planet Jupiter enters the Gemini zodiac (known as Guru Pravesh).
Devotees from many parts of the country gather at the sacred Ghats of the Yamuna River to perform important rituals such as holy Snan (ritual bath), Tarpan for ancestors (relief from Pitra Dosha), and prayers for family well-being.
It is believed that these rituals help wash away past karmas, purify the soul, bring peace to forefathers, and offer blessings for good health. In 2026, the Yatra will begin on 2nd June (Aadi Pushkaram) and end on 13th June (Anthya Pushkaram).
