Why Choose Helicopter Yatra for Badrinath and Kedarnath?

  • Time-Saving: The helicopter Yatra can be completed swiftly and can be finished in a day or two. On the other hand, the traditional Yatra takes days and is very tiresome.
  • Comfortable Journey: It’s needless to say that the heli Yatra is very comfortable. Moreover, it has a luxurious touch to it, as opposed to the bumpy road travel in the Himalayas.
  • Senior Citizen-Friendly: If you’re over 60 or a differently-abled pilgrim, then the helicopter Yatra is no less than a boon. You get to fly high in utter comfort and luxury, and don't have to go through the stressful journey that road travel is.
  • Beautiful Aerial Views: This is an inherent advantage of helicopter travel. You get to have a bird’s eye view of the stunning Himalayan landscapes. Get in awe of the sheer raw beauty of the snow-capped hills and lush valleys.
  • VIP Darshan: This is another benefit of choosing the charter services, as most helicopter packages include priority Darshan. The weather in the Himalayas is unpredictable, and therefore, most choppers try to minimize the delay and provide the guests with a quick Darshan pass.

Best Time to Visit and What to Wear?

The best time to visit the Do Dhams is hands down in the months of May & June and September & October.

Pre-Monsoon Season

If you’re planning Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter in the summers, i.e. May and June, expect sunny days with temperatures lingering between 20-30°C. The suggested attire is leisurely summer wear.

Post-Monsoon Season

Expect cool and pleasant weather if you are planning to visit in September and October. The temperatures are mild – ranging from 10°C to 20°C. However, there are chances that the temperatures at both Badrinath and Kedarnath may drop below 10°, especially at night. Therefore, it’s advised to pack warm layers. Woollen sweaters and jackets are recommended. To take care of sudden rainfall situations, we provide disposable rain gear to our customers.

Travel Tips for Pilgrims

  • Although the physical strain is less with a helicopter flight, you still should consult a doctor before embarking on the Chardham Yatra, especially if you have a health condition, such as heart or respiratory issues.
  • As the space in the chopper is less, bring only essentials. The maximum limit of weight a passenger can carry on the helicopter is 5 kg.
  • Bring your government-approved ID (Aadhaar Card, Voter Card, and PAN Card) to the helipad as it’s checked before boarding.
  • Be mentally prepared that your flights might get delayed. There are various factors due to which this can happen, such as fog, rain, or wind.
  • Wear warm clothes and shoes with a good grip.

How to Book Helicopter Tickets

Here’ a two-step process to getting your tickets:

Important Information for Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter

  1. Both the State government and temple authorities reserve the right to make changes to the VIP Darshan facility.
  2. The helicopters have stringent rules on passenger weight. To satisfy the weight limits, we can shuffle the passengers in and out of the helicopter. This means that people who are travelling together might not be able to sit together and may have to travel in different helicopter shifts. Please be aware of this beforehand.
  3. Fixed Flight Timings: Helicopters have a fixed departure schedule. Therefore, passengers are required to report on time at the helipad to avoid missing their flights. Also, in a situation of force majeure or bad weather, we reserve the right to postpone the flights or even cancel them.
  4. We’ll inform you of the precise flight schedule and reporting time at the helipad one day before the Helicopter Yatra.
  5. All passengers are requested to provide their correct weights at the time of booking. If at any time, it’s found that you had submitted the wrong data, you might get debarred from boarding the flights and even become ineligible for getting flight refunds.
  6. Baggage Allowance: Each passenger is allowed to carry only one bag with them that can weigh a maximum of up to 5 kg. Also, avoid bringing big bags or suitcases on the flight due to the limited space capacity of the helicopters.
  7. Kedarnath shuttle service: The shuttle service carries the passengers to Kedarnath ji. And there exists a possibility that passengers travelling together might be placed on different shuttles.
  8. In case there are any changes in the taxes or other charges, levied by the temple authorities or the State government itself, the passengers have to bear the extra amount by themselves. No surplus charge will be adjusted by our team.
  9. All passengers are mandatorily required to fill up an online Yatra registration form before embarking on the Kedarnath Badrinath tour by Helicopter.
  10. It’s recommended to wear comfortable clothes for your journey. Tracksuits and comfortable sports shoes are recommended.
  11. Our crew will be present at both the Dhams of Badrinath and Kedarnath. They are always there for your assistance.
  12. Infants (below 12 kg weight) can travel in the helicopter ride free of charge. However, you’re required to submit your birth certificate/ ID proof for age verification.
  13. If an infant is travelling with you on Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter, it will reduce the total permissible weight of the entire group that is to be boarded.
  14. Any charges like donations, Pitthu charges, tips, extra porter, etc. will be the sole responsibility of the passengers.
  15. Network connectivity is quite poor in mountainous areas. Service providers like Jio and BSNL, however, provide a good network in many areas up there.
  16. Both Badrinath and Kedarnath experience cold temperatures and therefore you are required to bring warm attire like woollen sweaters and jackets. Also, they both are located thousands of metres above sea level and altitude sickness is common. So, it’s advised to bring all your important medications, should the need arise.
  17. Before embarking on the sacred Badrinath Kedarnath Yatra by helicopter, it’s always recommended to undergo a medical check-up, especially for those with a medical ailment. Moreover, senior citizens and individuals with mobility issues are strongly advised to consult their physician before embarking on the sacred Do Dham Yatra.

Health Advisory for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra by Helicopter

  • It’s highly recommended to acclimatize yourself in the hilly areas. Both Kedarnath and Badrinath being at high altitudes, require you to get used to the mountains. However, your Do Dham Yatra by Helicopter will be concluded in a single day – which essentially means you wouldn’t have time to acclimatize. The best advice, therefore, is to go slow and catch your breath as much as you can. It’s also strongly recommended not to exert yourself in hilly areas, as this can lead to Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) which affects the lungs and brain.
  • Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) usually occurs after climbing above 2500 m. Some common symptoms of this ailment are:• Breathing problems • Dizziness • Loss of appetite • Fatigue • Nausea • Vomiting • Weakness • Difficulty in sleeping • Headache
  • There’s another high-altitude-related ailment called High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). This is a more severe form of AMS and has far worse symptoms. It occurs as a result of swelling of brain tissue which can impede brain activity eventually. It can even lead to coma or even death in some cases. A few symptoms are:• Disorientation • Fatigue • Partial paralysis • Bowel dysfunction • Headache • Bladder dysfunction • Visual impairment
  • You might also experience High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) which is caused due to fluid accumulation in the lungs and may lead to respiratory failure. HAPE usually begins at night and can progress quite quickly. In worst-case scenarios, it can cause fatality within a few hours. Moreover, young people are more prone to it. Common symptoms include:• Shortness of breath • Bright red stained sputum • Weakness • Persistent dry cough • Drowsiness • Increased heart rate • Fatigue • Chest tightness • Congestion

Details Program

Badrinath and Kedarnath, the holiest of holy abodes of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, are supposed to be visited together. In fact, a widely held belief states that a visit to Badrinath is deemed incomplete without prior Darshan of Kedarnath. Many believe that visiting the sacred shrines upon the snowy Himalayan peaks cleanses them of their karmic sins and catalyzes their path to salvation.

Do Dham Yatra by helicopter lets one enjoy the blessings of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu from the most revered of their abodes in the Himalayas. In addition to the spiritual and religious benefits strung together in the course of a single day, the Yatra would also prove aesthetically rewarding, as one is gifted views of Himalayan topography from the skies via helicopter rides!

The one-day helicopter Yatra ensures that the devotees enjoy a comfortable, spiritually beneficial, and wondrous Darshan of both the Dhams. The helicopter journey would begin and end at Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand state. Let us explore in detail what the detailed itinerary has in store for you.

7:00 am: Departure from Sahastradhara Helipad, Dehradun

The holy Do Dham Yatra would begin from the Sahastradhara helipad at Dehradun at around 7.00 am in the morning. You are requested to show up at the helipad well ahead of the departure time. That way you’d be able to attend the briefing session by pilot and ground staff on the dos and don'ts of a helicopter journey.

After less than an hour's journey, the helicopter would land at the Guptkashi helipad. From there, you will be transferred to the shuttle service, which will take you quite near the Kedarnath shrine within 8-9 minutes.

8:00 am: Arrival at Kedarnath Shrine

Kedarnath Temple is at a walking distance from the helipad at which you will be dropped. Our package includes the cost of VIP Darshan slips, too. Thus, enjoy a hassle-free Darshan of Kedarnath Jyotirlinga.

Do you know that only twelve Jyotirlingas exist throughout India? It is considered to be a matter of utmost fortune to be able to witness the Jyotirlingas!

11:00 am: Departure towards Badrinath

It is now time to leave for our next destination – Badrinath. References of Badrinath abound in Puranas and devotional works.

The land has long been venerated as the sacred soil fit for spiritual awakening. In fact, Vishnu's twin avatars Nar and Narayan performed austerities for thousands of years in the very place to bring in the highest good for all living beings in the universe.

12:00 pm: Arrival at Badrinath

An hour-long flight above the clouds via helicopter would bring one to Badrinath Dham. Badrinath Dham is venerated as one of the 108 Divya Desams, illustrated in the works of Tamil saint-poets Alvars. Skanda Purana states its stature to be the highest among all Vaishnavite shrines in all the worlds.

After enjoying a blissful Darshan, you will be driven to hotel for Lunch.

After a sumptuous meal, you will be ready to board the helicopter for the return journey to Dehradun.

Enjoy the helicopter ride once again! The captivating beauty of the Himalayas is sure to enchant you once more. Hopefully, the Do Dham Yatra by helicopter will have blessed you with memories that would last a lifetime.
