Helicopter bookings for Kedarnath set to open soon. Here is everything you need to know

Devotees who are looking to take the helicopter yatra for Kedarnath darshan will have to register with the IRCTC HeliYatra portal. Ticket booking on the portal will begin from April 19th for the period of May 10th to June 20th 2024. For the period of September 15th to October 31st, dates are yet to be announced.

Be sure to register if you are opting for Helicopter Yatra this year.


General Instructions for Passengers

 1. Mandatory Registration

Registration on the Uttarakhand Government Portal is required to book Helicopter Services online. If you have not registered, please visit the official website.

 2. Account Creation and Login

To create an account, confirm your email ID and mobile number through OTP at heliyatra.irctc.co.in Use your registered mobile number as your User ID/Booker ID and create a personal password. Log in at heliyatra.irctc.co.in to book your Helicopter tickets.

 3. Booking Tickets

Use a Group ID to book tickets for multiple pilgrims or a Unique Registration Number for booking Helicopter Service for an individual.

 4. Ticket Limits

A maximum of two Helicopter Tickets may be booked per User/Booker ID, allowing for up to six passengers per ticket. This means one user can book for a maximum of twelve passengers across two tickets.

 5. Large Group Bookings

For groups larger than twelve passengers, create or use another User ID/Booker ID at heliyatra.irctc.co.in to book the necessary additional tickets.

 6. Booking Window

Helicopter bookings can be made from three days before to two days after the Tour Date of Shri Kedarnath Dham, as per your registration. For example, for a tour date of May 5th, bookings can be made from May 2nd to May 7th.

 7. Child and Infant Policy

Children aged two years and above must have a seat and will be charged the adult fare. Infants under two years travel free without a seat.

 8. Passenger Restrictions per Sortie

Each sortie can accommodate a maximum of two children, two infants, and four adults, subject to weight limits and other conditions.

 9. Ticket Validity and Identification

Tickets are valid only with original ID proof for all passengers. Screenshots or partially printed tickets are invalid. Fake or duplicate tickets will lead to prohibition from flying and possible detention.

 10. Arrival Times

Passengers must arrive at the Helipad at least one hour before their booked slot time and two hours before for check-in and security procedures.

 11. Seating Arrangements

Seating depends on the helicopter load and sortie planning. Groups may be split across different helicopters based on operational needs.

 12. Weight Policy and Charges

Passenger weight will be verified before boarding. Passengers and any accompanying infants weighing over 80 kgs combined will incur a charge of Rs. 150 per extra kilogram.

 13. Dynamic Pricing

Helicopter ticket pricing is subject to dynamic adjustments as per UCADA policies.

 14. Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation and refunds are governed by the IRCTC Helicopter ticket Cancellation / Refund Policy, which stipulates:

  1. Cancellations must be made online on the IRCTC website.
  2. Refunds for cancellations due to technical issues, bad weather, or government orders will exclude payment gateway and transaction charges.
  3. In such cases, Passengers are advised to submit the ticket issued by IRCTC or the boarding pass issued by the helicopter operator at the check-in counter immediately and get their ticket cancelled (duly stamped) at the concerned Helipad Counter. Afterwards no request for refund will be entertained. Refund will be processed online.
  4. For online bookings, refunds are processed within 5 to 7 working days to the account with which the booking was made. Refunds for tickets booked with cash payments must be collected at the helipad counter.
  5. If Helicopter service is cancelled due to bad weather or any other reason, passengers of a particular slot not flown will not be carried forward to next slot.
  6. Extra weight charges, if paid by the passenger, are refundable at the helipad by the helicopter operator.

 15. Complaints and Refund Delays

In case of cancellation of helicopter services due to any (operational/technical) reasons, if refund is not received within 5 to 7 working days stipulated period, the customer/passenger may lodge a complaint with IRCTC through their registered e-mail ID on heliyatra@irctc.co.in within 15 days from the date of departure. Refund will be made after due verification with Helicopter Operator, to the same account through which the ticket was booked. No claim of refund amount due to cancellation of Helicopter service, will be entertained after 15 days from the date of departure.
