Sri Kedarnath

In Kedarnath Dham there is only space for 3000 pilgrims’ night stay facility. As a result only 3000 to 5000 people will be granted permission for Kedarnath Yatra to prevent overstrain on facilities. The online registration system comes as a boon as pilgrims for the Yatra on their preferred dates in advance. The head officer N Ravishankar held a press conference in which details of all preparations for 2017 Char Dham Yatra were revealed. During the press conference Dr. Umakant Pawar said that 18 centers including Rishikesh were fixed as registration centers for Char Dham.

All details of traveler registrations for Chardham Yatra, Kedar Nath Yatra etc will be available to the public via Police Control room, Yatra control room, emergency help centers, travel facilitation centers and the Zonal emergency service centers. Arrangements for overnight halt of 3000 pilgrims have been made at Chardham. Prefabricated huts, GMVN accommodation option, tents and private rooms are included in the options. Arrangements have been made at Rishikesh to control the flow of pilgrim traffic which will arrive at Kedarnath due to the limited availability of accommodation there. Some staying options are also arranged in the route between Gaurikund and Kedarnath. Arrangement of such accommodation option has been outsourced to local and Delhi based tour operators (1000 beds each). 8 centers have been set up on the foot travel route to Kedarnath and these will facilitate food and water at GMVN subsidized rates. These small canteens will be operated by local people who will also get an earning avenue. 1500 temporary toilets and washrooms have been constructed in the route between Rishikesh to Kedarnath. These toilets and washrooms are distributed over 204 places. The responsibility of keeping the roads and accommodation spaces clean has been delegated to zila panchayats and temple cleaning committees.
