The inner walls decorated with pictures of several deities and the mythological scenes depicted enhance the glory of the pilgrimage. Devotees can spot the Pali inscriptions inscribed on the steps of the temple. The idol of the Lord Shiva gets shifted to Ukhimath and transferred back to the shrine of Kedarnath during summer. The temple has been renovated several times after its original construction.

Badrinath The pilgrimage settled at the easternmost location of the Garhwal Hills. The shrine of Badrinath lies at the north of Rishikesh and is dedicated to Lord Badri (Vishnu). There are many legends and stories behind the origin of this temple. Dating back to the ninth century the origin of this pilgrimage is associated which holds a major significance among the Hindu Devout. The idol of Badrinath gets shifted to Joshimath during winter and devotees pay their homage at Joshimath and then it gets transferred back to Badrinath at the starting of the summer.

Yamunotri Perched at an elevation of 3291 metres above the sea level and at the western end of the Garhwal Himalayas. Same as other shrines Yamunotri also hold many legends and histories and there is a belief that if you take a dip into the river then you will be free from tortuous death. The pilgrimage is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna which is the second holiest river of India.

Gangotri It is known as the main pilgrimage out of the other 4 pilgrimages of Char Dham Yatra which was named after the holiest river of Hindus i.e. Ganga. The shrine is situated at an elevation of 3048 metres above the sea level. There is a belief that the water of Gangotri is offered to Lord Shiva as it neutralizes the effect of poison in his throat.
