The holy temple of Kedarnath is one of the Chardhams in the Chota Chardham circuit. It is an abode of Lord Kedar, the other name for Lord Shiva. Adi Guru Shankaracharya has founded the present Kedarnath temple around 8th century AD. This present temple stands just beside the ancient one which is said to have been constructed by Pandavas.
