Hemkund Sahib LakeChief Minister Harish Rawat, is all set to flag off the Hemkund Sahib Yatra from the Govind Ghat on May 31. The Hemkund Sahib Management Trust claims to have made all the required preparations for the yatra that commences on June 1.

Vice-President of Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, Mr. Narendrajeet Singh Bindra said that, the buildings and infrastructural damages caused by the natural disaster in 2013 have been reconstructed. This time, the pilgrims will be relieved for a stretch of about 4 km on the route to the holy shrine, as a motorable road has been constructed which will allow pilgrims to commute on vehicles instead of trekking the entire route.

Mr.Darshan Singh, the Manager of Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Rishikesh ensured that all the arrangements were in place for the pilgrimage.

He also mentioned that, the entire stretch from Govind Ghat to Govind Dham had been revamped as it has been installed with railings on either side, furthermore benches have also been put up for the pilgrims to halt and relax. He also said that, the route from Gobind Dham to Hemkund Sahib has also been cleared with the help and support of the government alongside the Army.

Furthermore, Mr. Singh said the state government had played a pivotal role in facilitating the pilgrimage as they had also provided the entire power supply to the holy shrine. He also informed that a 20-feet-wide bridge had been raised over the river near Govind Ghat on which even four-wheelers could commute.

Similarly, he said that there is also a facility of chopper/helicopter ride from Gobind Ghat to Gobind Dham. All the necessary provisions have been made ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay of the pilgrims, including their accommodation, ‘langar’ and the entire required medical help.
