As the yearly Char Dham Yatra season will officially start off from 21st April in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister Harish Rawat has instructed the Center authorities to renovate all the National Highways which fall in the Char Dham route as they were heavily damaged in the 2013 deluge.
The Chief Minister had a meeting with Nitin Gadkari (Union Road and Transport Minister) on this particular issue on Tuesday. During the meeting, Rawat focused on the fact that there was a lot of need for improving the condition of roads in Uttarakhand. The NH 58 (Rudraprayag to Badrinath), NH 108 (Dharasu to Gangotri), NH 123 (Herbertpur to Badkot), NH 94 (Dadras to Phoolchatti), NH 109 (Rudraprayag to Gaurikund) and NH 125 (Tanakpur to Pithoragarh) were selected as the roads which were most in need of repair.

Harish Rawat further said that many roads which linked Uttar Pradesh to Uttarakhand were in very bad shape. All the high ways like Saharanpur-Dehradun, Rampur-Rudrapur, Saharanpur-Roorkee-Haridwar, Najibabad-Kotdwar, Pilibhit-Tanakpur, Moradabad-Kashipur, Bahedi-Kiccha, -Thakurdwara, Moradabad-Kashipur-Aligarh had been in a precarious condition for the last few years.

Joshimath to Badrinath Road

The CM Harish Rawat said that road reconstruction was important in the interest of the whole nation. He further stated that the roads which lay in landslide-prone areas needed urgent attention. Some such crucial roads were identified as Nandprayag, Birhi Maithana, Helang, Patal Ganga, Baldaura, Pagalnala, Lambagad and these slides are mostly located on NH 58. The C.M urged the enhancement of repairing and reconstruction work happening on the Tawaghat-Ghatiyabagad-Lipulekh stretch centered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Route.

The C.M also urged Nitin Gadkari (Union Road and Transport Minister) to deploy labor and funds in new construction work. A bridge at Gunji point and 3 bridges around Kalapani were proposed to be built for the facilitation of Mansarovar pilgrims. The C.M Harish RAWAT reminded Mr. Gadakari of the DPR that was issued by IMA (Indian Military Academy) for the construction of a new under Pass. The C.M instructed Mr. Gadakari to give the DPR smooth approval. After the discussions, Nitin Gadkari (Union Road and Transport Minister) assured C.M Harish Rawat that fast action will be taken on all the points raised in the meeting.
