Barely a month goes by without a fair lighting up a village square, a riverbank ghat, or a Himalayan meadow. Kumaoni and Garhwali communities each keep their own rhythm of celebration, built around harvests, the monsoon, and stories tied to local deities. Some festivals of Uttarakhand, like Diwali and Holi, are celebrated across India but take on a distinct hill character here.
