The cave of Timmarsen has emerged as the second abode of Baba Barfani, where he sits. Niti Village is situated in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and is known as the last village of the district. The village is located very close to the Indo-Tibet border. However, it is believed that Baba Barfani has been seated in this cave for centuries, but the place is still lesser-known to non-natives. Devotees can offer their prayers to Baba Barfani from March till mid-April. class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The world-renowned Niti Village is located on the Joshimath &#8211; Niti Highway, and the cave where the Shivalinga is settled is about 700 meters from the main road on Timmarsen Mountain. This divine place of Mahadev is located 80 km from <a href=\"\/blog\/joshimath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joshimath<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Darshan_Timing\"><\/span><strong>Darshan Timing<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Shivalinga sits inside a structure on the Timmarsen Hills. In winter, it becomes 10 feet higher than the usual Shivalinga. Water dripping from the hills keeps it smeared with water. According to the locals, the Shivling returns to its original shape after the winter when the snow melts. Local people also call it &#8220;Chhota Amarnath.&#8221; Every year, the Darshan opens in March and continues until the second week of April, during which millions of people visit the cave, including ITBP soldiers. A soldier mentioned that they do not move further without paying homage at this revered place.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Reach_Niti_Village\"><\/span><strong>How to Reach Niti Village<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Pilgrims can reach Niti Village by opting for any of the following transportation modes: by rail, air, or road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>By Air:<\/strong> The only airport to reach Niti Village is Jolly Grant Airport in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chardhamtour.in\/dehradun.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dehradun<\/a>, from where you can take a taxi to Joshimath, which is 88 km away from Niti Village.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By Rail:<\/strong> Dehradun and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chardhamtour.in\/rishikesh.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rishikesh<\/a> Railway Stations are the nearest railway stations to Niti Village, located 380 km and 346 km away, respectively.<\/li>\n<li><strong>By Road:<\/strong> There are frequent buses from many major cities across the country that take you to Rishikesh, from where taxis and buses are easily available to Joshimath.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Accessibility to Timmersain Cave<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People need to come up climbing for around 2 km. According to the locals and ITBP soldiers, it is not difficult to walk 700 meters distance as there is no snow around the temple.
