From the airport, take a cab to the Char Dhams, starting from Yamunotri. It takes about 6-7 hours of drive.

Travel Tips for NRIs Visiting Char Dham

Here are some travel tips you will find useful:

• If you're an elderly pilgrim, consult your doctor before going on the Chardham trip.
• Carry a first aid kit with you. Also, bring medicines with you, both prescribed and ones that are essential, such as aspirin, paracetamol, etc.
• The Char Dham sites stay cold throughout the year. Therefore, carry warm clothes with you, no matter which time of the year you're travelling to the Char Dhams.
• Don't forget to bring trekking shoes with you.
• Purchase SIM cards of Jio/Airtel, as they work best in the mountainous regions.
• Carry cash with you as there is a limited number of ATMs available in the hills. Cards are also not accepted everywhere.
• Altitude sickness is quite common in the hills. Therefore, it's best that you acclimatize properly at a lower altitude before moving up to the more elevated regions.
• Drink water at regular intervals, as staying hydrated prevents altitude sickness.
• Keep tabs on symptoms like nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, etc. as these are some of the very first signs of altitude sickness.

Visa Tips for NRIs

Here's what you need to know about Visa:

• If you have an Indian passport, then you don't need to apply for a Visa.
• If you have an OCI card, then also, you don't require a Visa. You can enter India with a foreign passport and an OCI card.
• If you don't have the OCI Card, and are travelling only with a foreign passport, then you need to apply for the tourist Visa. You can do so at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/. Make sure you apply at least 2-4 weeks before the travel date.

• If you cancel 30 days before the trip, you'll get 90% of the amount back.
• If you cancel 15 to 30 days before the trip, you'll get 50% of the amount back.
• If you cancel less than 15 days before the trip, you're not eligible for the refund.
