Rail Link Connecting Char DhamsThe Ministry of Railways is actively engaged in conducting an engineering survey which focuses on laying down the railway track that connects Badrinath to Kedarnath. The Railway route will cover Gangotri, Dehradun, Yamunotri and Karnprayag. The Survey followed that announcement made by the honorable prime Mininster Narendra Modi who stated his intent to link the Char Dham Pilgrimage centers with strong railway networks. The Minister of Railways (for State) Mr Manoj Singh stated that the announcement has already been made and work has started on the same in response to the query put forward by Mahendra Singh Mahra in the assembly session of Rajya Sabha.

The Railway Minister Manoj Singh further stated that the railway line (connecting the Char Dhams) will measure about 327.11 km. the projected cost for the railway construction project is pegged at 43,292 crores. The Ministry is currently engaged in conducting a viability survey for the same.
